We know this school year looks different than years past. It's full of unknowns, anxiety, and many other different emotions. And we feel called to come together and pray together as a church! We will be updating this page with a new prayer prompt each day to pray for five specific areas surrounding this upcoming school year. We hope you will join us!

DAY 1: WISDOM

Proverbs 9:10, James 1:5, Proverbs 2:6, Proverbs 3:5-6

God, we know that ‘for the Lord gives wisdom; from your mouth come knowledge and understanding’. Thank you for the gift of knowledge! We are desperate for Your wisdom right now, Lord. I pray that we would ‘trust in you with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding’. Help us to set aside daily time to seek first Your wisdom for our families, for our teachers, for kids, and students. If we lack the wisdom to organize our days or utilize our time well during school hours, I pray that we ask You, ‘who gives generously to all without finding fault’. I pray that this school year children would thrive right where You have them – inside schools, through e-learning, or in homes. Help them discover and learn more about the unique gifts and talents You have given them and give us wisdom on how to steward those well. In Jesus name, Amen!

DAY 2: DISCERNMENT

Ephesians 5:6-10, Romans 12:3

Lord, I am thankful for the Spirit within me that guides me.  Please fill me with the willingness to listen to You, God, to move with the Holy Spirit as He directs me.  Give me a willingness to learn, to stretch myself, to do something new this school year. Help me know what to say ‘yes’ and ‘no’ to in this season. To ‘not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed’. Give me discernment in being part of a community right now, whether it be with another family, a watch party, or an occasional in-person or virtual meet-up. Help us to live as ‘children of the light’ and have discernment with what myself and my family are taking in on social media, on the tv, in the music we listen to. Allow me to make Your Holy Spirit the loudest voice that influences my family and I. In Jesus Name, Amen.

DAY 3: JOY

Proverbs 17:22, Psalm 118:24

Jesus, we just ask as we approach this new school year that You would fill our homes with joy! I pray that when we wake up each morning we would be reminded that in Your word it says, ‘This is the day YOU have made, Lord, and we should rejoice and be glad in it’. Help us to remember that ‘a cheerful heart is good medicine and a crushed spirit dries up the bones’. Give us a heart filled with contentment. I pray for joy in friendships – that You would make us intentional about socialization, and protect our families from isolation and loneliness in this season. Lord, keep our eyes focused on You and keep us from comparing what we’re doing to what others or the world are doing. In Jesus name, amen.

DAY 4: SALVATION

Proverbs 18:10, Psalm 91:1-2, Psalm 121:8

Lord, I am so thankful that you are in absolute control over everything; that you give us everything we need. I take comfort in knowing that You keep watch over my ‘family’s coming and their going; both now and forever’. I pray for salvation and changed lives in the hearts of my family members and those close to us, in Jesus’ Name! I pray that more and more children would ‘dwell in the shelter of the Most High’ and know You as ‘their refuge and fortress’ this year. Lord, You showed us the ultimate example of grace when You gave your Son for us – thank You Jesus! Lord, give us a supernatural grace for one another that is filled with understanding, patience, and peace – for teachers to show with their students and for parents to show with their children. I pray that we would run to You first in this season and every season after. In Jesus name, amen.

DAY 5: SERVANTHOOD

Philippians 2:4, Matthew 23:11

Thank You Jesus for always being the greatest example of servanthood. You are such a good, good Father. Lord God, I pray You would use our family to be servants. I pray that whether it be in our own home, in our neighborhood, workplace, or school, that Your light within us would shine bright and point people to YOU! I pray that we would always remember to ‘not look to our own interests but each of us to the interest of others’. Help us seek out opportunities to serve. And when You put opportunities in front of us, give us a boldness to be obedient. Give us a boldness to talk about You with everyone – that we might be Your hands and feet to this world and grow Your Kingdom during this dark time. We love You. In Jesus name, amen.
